Yes… Kakpoot was invited to a press conference again. And we think this might be the first little pot ever to take a seat in such a majestic hall. A little pot, a big moment (Of course… Elsie, the hooman caretaker, sat beside Kakpoot, just to make sure he behaved himself.)
This wasn’t just any ordinary press conference, but it brought together beautiful minds and missions from across borders. We have crossover between countries of Japan and Malaysia. Umisakura from Japan, The Blue Santa Hero Mascot and Penang’s very own Kakpoot & friends. This is a collaboration rooted in care for our oceans and environment.

Let me paint you a lil background on what is Blue Santa. The Blue Santa movement began in Japan in 2016, initiated by Umisakura in collaboration with The Nippon Foundation. Held every year on Marine Day (the 3rd Monday of July), Blue Santa carries a simple but powerful meaning: To gift clean seas to the children of the future. Participants dress as “Blue Santas”, not to give toys, but to give something far more lasting to our future generation: a cleaner ocean and a better tomorrow.

Hence, we officially announced that...(drum rolls)...Kakpoot & Tod Tod are now the official mascots of Blue Santa Malaysia. As this initiative originates from Japan, this collaboration marks a meaningful connection between Japan and Malaysia under the Blue Santa movement and we feel honoured to be part of it. Through this collaboration, Kakpoot takes on a new role: to gently connect people to the purpose behind this meaningful initiative. We understand that sometimes, programs like these may feel a little serious or distant, especially for the younger generation. But we believe that stories can change that. Through playful storytelling and warm, approachable illustrations, Kakpoot & friends hope to first capture hearts, and from there, spark curiosity, understanding, and connection to the message behind it all. And as they fall in love with the characters, they’ll slowly discover the purpose and stories behind the movement. Because sometimes, all it takes is a little character to spark a bigger connection
From a small idea to a growing movement, Kakpoot reminds us that no effort is too small when it comes
to caring for the world around us. And now, standing alongside an international initiative, little Kakpoot and its ever loyal companion, Tod Tod carries an even bigger story. We’re deeply grateful to be part of this meaningful journey that connects people, places, and purpose.

Cheers to more stories, more growth, and more moments that matter. Like a kaleidoscope, this day at the Penang Island City Hall comes together. In fragments of people, purpose, and places, each piece reflecting something beautiful, something intentional. And as we turn it gently, the picture shifts into memories of collaboration, of learning, of doing something meaningful together for the world we share.
A little pot in a Grand hall, a small act in a Bigger mission, Together, we grow. Stronger. 🌱
